Chapel Hill, NC – Elvia Yolanda Heavlin, age 78, died in Carrboro, North Carolina, on March 30, 2022.

Yolanda was very active in the American Legion, Chapel Hill Post No. 6. She championed projects, served in several Auxiliary committees, visited hospitalized veterans, hosted events for veterans and her church, and so much more. Leading and serving by example, she encouraged others to join her; and that included all members of her family.

The Heavlin family will welcome friends of the family to a wake on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home at 1113 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on April 6th, 2022, at 10 a.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 940 Carmichael Street, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Inurnment will follow the Mass at the St. Thomas More Church Columbarium. A reception of visitors will follow in the church’s co-located Friends and Family Hall.
